Khulna:Winners of cultural competitions held to commemorate Nazrul Year-2026 were awarded at a ceremony at the Nagar Bhaban.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) as part of the nationwide observance of Nazrul Year, declared by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to honor National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The competitions aimed to promote Nazrul's works and involved students from various educational institutions, including kindergartens, schools, colleges, and madrasas.
KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju, who attended as the chief guest, emphasized the importance of fostering creativity, identifying talent, and strengthening national unity through these contests. He encouraged students to embody Nazrul's spirit of resistance against injustice and work towards a better society.
The competitions featured nine categories, such as Nazrul songs, recitation, drawing, and solo acting, with winners set to advance to district-level contests. The event was presided over by KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, with several city officials and community members in attendance.
