Dhaka:Prime Minister's Political Adviser Nazrul Islam Khan stated on Monday that genuine leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated organizations are not involved in extortion, violence, land grabbing, or any criminal activities.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Khan made these remarks at a protest rally organized by Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal in Nayapaltan. He emphasized that those who have worked with Shaheed Zia, Begum Khaleda Zia, and Tarique Rahman have never engaged in wrongdoing or injustice.
Nazrul further asserted that genuine activists of the BNP cannot be criminals or extortionists. He clarified that if anyone is found involved in such activities, they do not represent the BNP or its leadership.
He criticized those who attempt to malign the BNP due to the actions of a few individuals and urged the government to take strict measures against such wrongdoers. Khan also mentioned ongoing conspiracies against the country and government, noting that those rejected by the people might seek to increase public suffering.
Khan expressed that the people had given Tarique Rahman a chance to work for the country and were supportive of his efforts. He urged patience, reminding that the government has been in place for only a fraction of its term, and it is premature to judge its success or failure.
The rally saw the participation of central leaders of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, leaders from Dhaka city units, and various trade union representatives.
