Nayeem shines with 6 wickets to deprive Mathews of double ton

Right-arm spinner Nayeem Hasan took six wickets stealing some of the shine from Sri Lanka’s Angela Mathews who fell one short of a double century on the second day of the first Test between the two countries on Monday.

It was Nayeem who dismissed Mathews on 199 as Sri Lanka ended their first innings on 397 all out. Nayeem conceded 105 runs for the feat in Chattagram.

Mathews went to slog Nayeem through the on side but failed to execute it well and ended up sending an easy catch to Shakib Al Hasan.

Nayeem bagged two wickets in the first two sessions of each day. And he also bagged two in the post-tea session on day two and completed a six-for.

Dinesh Chandimal was the second-highest runs taker scoring 66 while Kusal Mendis posted 54.

For Bangladesh Shakib chipped in with two and Taijul Islam scalped one wicket.

Bangladesh, trailing by 321, finished the day on 76 without losing any wicket with Tamim Iqbal (35) and Mahmudul Hasan Joy (31) to resume the batting on day three.
