Nayeem Hasan Achieves 300-Wicket Milestone in First-Class Cricket

Sylhet: Offspinner Nayeem Hasan achieved a significant milestone in his first-class cricket career by reaching 300 wickets during the opening day of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) match. Despite his individual success, the day was largely dominated by the Central Zone team at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, where Nayeem, playing for East Zone, recorded figures of 1-46.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Central Zone concluded the day at 272-6, with Abu Haider Rony and Ashiqur Rahman Shibly contributing significantly. They formed an unbeaten partnership for the seventh wicket, adding 147 runs after their team had stumbled to 125-6. Opener Shadman Islam was the top scorer with 56 runs, but it was Nayeem who dismissed him, sealing his place in the record books.

Ebadot Hossain and Tofayel Ahmed each took two wickets for East Zone. In another match at the Sylhet Academy Ground, South Zone, led by captain Mohammad Mithun’s 53-run knock, was bowled out for 316. North Zone ended the day at 16
without loss, with opener Iftekhar Hossain Ifti and Rizan Hossain making notable contributions to help their team surpass the 300-run mark. Taijul Islam and Abdullah Al Mamun stood out for North Zone by taking three wickets each.
