Dhaka: Bangladesh Navy today accorded a reception to the gallantry award-winning valiant freedom fighters of Navy and awarded peacetime medals to the Navy personnel in recognition of their heroic courage in various fields. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan handed over the memento and peacetime medals to the recipients at a function in Sagarika Hall of Navy Headquarters marking the ‘Armed Forces Day-2024’, a release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said here.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 22 valiant freedom fighters and their beneficiaries were felicitated during the function. Additionally, 77 navy personnel-40 in 2023 and 37 in 2024-were awarded peacetime medals in recognition of their heroic activities in different fields. Among the peacetime medal recipients, three received the Navy Medal (NBP), 10 were awarded the Extraordinary Service Medal (OSP), 10 received the Distinguished Service Medal (BSP), 14 were honored with the Navy Glorious Service Medal (NGP), 2
0 received the Navy Medal of Excellence Medal (NUP), and another 20 were awarded the Navy Efficiency Medal (NPP).
The reception also saw the presence of family members of five Bir Shreshtho, including the family of Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Ruhul Amin, as well as five Bir Uttam, eight Bir Bikrom, and eight Bir Protik. Their children, Principal Staff Officers, and senior officials of the Dhaka Naval region were also present at the occasion.
