Natore:Officer-in-Charge of Gurudaspur Police Station, Abdul Hannan, has been withdrawn just two days after the killing of Chhatra Dal leader Shakil Islam.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Additional Superintendent of Natore Police Iftekhar Alam announced on Wednesday that OC Abdul Hannan was withdrawn and reassigned to the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range. This development comes in the wake of the turmoil surrounding Shakil Islam's death.

The central committee of Jubo Dal has expelled Nuruzzaman Mintu, son of Natore-4 MP Abdul Aziz, following his arrest in connection with Shakil's murder. The expulsion took place on Tuesday, escalating the situation further in Natore.

Tensions were evident on Tuesday night during the funeral prayers for Shakil at Shahid Shamsuzzoha Government College ground. Discontent arose when MP Abdul Aziz attempted to speak, prompting obstruction from attendees. The situation deteriorated after the prayers, as some individuals vandalized and looted a supermarket owned by Russel Hossain, a friend of Mintu.

In response to these events, the local JCD unit announced a protest in Natore district town, demanding justice for Shakil's death. The incident traces back to October 14, when Shakil was stabbed by a group of miscreants, later succumbing to his injuries on October 26 in a Dhaka hospital.

Authorities arrested Mintu on Monday for his alleged involvement in the murder, and he was subsequently placed on a three-day remand for further interrogation on Tuesday night.
