Natore: 65-year-old woman burns to death while trying to keep warm

A 65-year-old woman was burned to death trying to stay warm in Natore's Bagatipara upazila early Friday, fire service said.

The deceased Firoza Begum used to live alone in her thatched house in Hijli village of the upazila.

Locals said the woman used to keep lighted charcoal in an earthen pot to warm herself.

They saw the house catch fire in the early morning and informed the fire service.

Nurul Islam, an official at Natore fire service, said on information, they rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

The charred body of the woman was found inside the house when the blaze was put out, he said.

The fire service official said the fire might have originated from the pot.
