Dhaka: The Artisan 6th national men’s and 3rd national women’s Sepak Takraw championship has commenced at Paltan ground, adjacent to the national stadium in the capital. The event was inaugurated by Kazi Nazrul Islam, executive director of the National Sports Council, who attended as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the opening ceremony was graced by the presence of special guests including Zahin Sajidul Islam, marketing director of Unilever Bangladesh, Md Tafijul Islam Piyal, director of CD Operations and Excellence, and Anita Gomez, Chairman of Artisan Outfitters Ltd. Ali Ahmad Russell, vice-president of the Bangladesh Sepak Takraw Association, presided over the event, while general secretary Md Faruk Dhali was among those present.
The championship features participation from a total of 20 men’s and 10 women’s district teams. On the first day of the competition, victories in the men’s division were claimed by teams from Chattogram, Panchagarh, Manikganj, Narayanganj, and Joypurhat. In the women’s division, teams from Barishal, Nilphamari, Dhaka, and Rangamati emerged victorious.
