Dhaka:National Youth Day will be observed across Bangladesh tomorrow, featuring a series of programmes under the theme "Skilled Youth Will Build the Nation, Bangladesh for All."
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government will present the National Youth Award 2026 to 14 individuals, including four youth organisers and 10 successful self-employed entrepreneurs, in recognition of their contributions to the youth sector. The awards ceremony will take place during the inaugural event at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre, with President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expected to attend.
In preparation for the celebrations, a youth procession today traveled from Bangladesh Shishu Academy to Mawlana Bhashani Hockey Stadium, passing through the Shikkha Bhaban and Zero Point intersections. As part of the events, the government plans to install 12,000 sustainable biogas plants nationwide to address the energy crisis, as announced by State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque at a press conference.
Additionally, a job fair featuring 55 well-known organisations will be held on November 1 to create employment opportunities for young people, potentially generating jobs for 3,000 to 5,000 individuals. The state minister expressed optimism that the government's initiatives, including training programmes, youth loans, and development projects, would empower young people to contribute significantly to the country's economic growth.
To further commemorate National Youth Day, a week-long series of activities is planned at district and upazila levels. These include cleanliness drives, dengue prevention efforts, canal excavation projects, blood donation campaigns, sports and cultural events, and the distribution of youth loans.
