Bagerhat: National Revolution and Solidarity Day was observed today with due respect in Bagerhat. The day’s programs began with the hoisting of the national and party flags at the district BNP office in the morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a discussion meeting was held in the afternoon at the city’s central Shaheed Minar square. This was followed by a rally through the main roads of Bagerhat, concluding back at the square. The event saw Krishibid Shamimur Rahman Shamim, BNP’s central research affairs secretary, addressing the gathering as the chief guest.
BNP central committee member Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Advocate Sheikh Wahiduzzaman Dipu, former district BNP president MA Salam, and district BNP convener Engineer ATM Akram Hossain Talim also spoke at the event. They emphasized the historical significance of the day in 1975, when a united action by the sepoys and the people helped protect national independence and sovereignty during a period of political uncertainty.
The leaders noted that the day marked a pivotal point in the country’s political history, as Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was liberated from captivity and assumed leadership. This event initiated a new political direction focused on development and production within a multi-party democratic framework.
The event was attended by District BNP Joint Convener Khadem Niyamul Nasir Alap, Sheikh Shamsher Ali Mohan, District BNP member Barrister Zakir Hossain, Engineer Masud Rana, former party president and Bus Owners Association president Sardar Liaquat Ali, and other party leaders.
