Jamalpur: The National Revolution and Solidarity Day was observed in Jamalpur today with various programmes, recalling the contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. To mark the day, a discussion was held at the Islampur Upazila auditorium where Adviser to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and former Cabinet Secretary ASM Abdul Halim spoke as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Abdul Halim addressed the event, emphasizing that following the historic events of November 7, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had once again called upon the people to unite for the nation’s reconstruction. He highlighted that the great leader and founder of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) dedicated his life to the country’s development and continued working for its progress until his martyrdom.
Abdul Halim urged party leaders and activists to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level and work sincerely in favour of the Sheaf of Paddy symbol in the upcoming national election. The meeting, presided over by BNP leader Md Joynal Abedin Sarkar, was attended by local leaders and activists.
Earlier in the day, a colourful rally was brought out from the Islampur Government College premises. The rally traversed through different streets of the town before converging at the upazila auditorium, marking the day with a sense of unity and remembrance.
