National Physics Conference Commences at Rajshahi University

Rajshahi: A two-day National Conference on Physics 2025 commenced today at Rajshahi University (RU), aiming to enhance education and research in the field of physics.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh Physical Society (BPS) organized the conference at the RU Senate Building under the theme “Physics: Enigma and Beauty.” The opening ceremony featured RU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib as the chief patron, with Pro-VCs Prof Mayeen Uddin and Prof Farid Uddin Khan as patrons. BPS President Prof Shawkat Akbar and Chairman of RU Physics Department Prof Khalilur Rahman Khan presided over the event as chair and co-chair, respectively.



BPS Treasurer Prof Nazrul Islam Khan presented the written speech of Special Assistant of the Education Adviser Prof Aminul Islam, who is a former student and teacher of the department. The conference also saw BPS Vice-president Prof Akter Hossain welcoming the participants, while General Secretary Prof Ratan Chandra Ghosh expressed his gratitude in a thanksgiving speech.



Approximately 120 research papers focusing on physics and related subjects are scheduled for presentation in a plenary and 19 academic sessions, in addition to 116 posters in a poster session. The plenary session included speeches by Professor Emeritus Dr Arun Kumar Basak and Dr AKM Azharul Islam.



The conference is witnessing the participation of around 200 teachers, researchers, and physicists over the two days.
