National Pension Authority Hosts Workshop on Universal Pension Scheme

Dhaka: The National Pension Authority organized a workshop at the conference room of the Cabinet Division at Bangladesh Secretariat, involving officials from the Finance Division, Cabinet Division, and the National Pension Authority.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid addressed the workshop as the chief guest, with Finance Division Secretary Dr. Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder presiding over the event. A total of 86 officials attended, ranging from additional secretaries to assistant secretaries.



National Pension Authority member (Finance and Administration) A.Y.M. Ziauddin Al-Mamun delivered the welcome address, while member (Fund Management) M Golam Mostafa presented the keynote. Participants engaged in discussions about the Universal Pension Scheme, offering valuable insights and suggestions.



Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid highlighted the significance of the Universal Pension Scheme in providing a dignified future for those outside current social safety nets. He emphasized the importance of effective participation and coordination with field administration to establish a comprehensive social safety structure.



Finance Secretary Dr. Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder expressed that widespread adoption of the scheme could ensure financial and social security for communities not covered by existing safety nets. He stated that the National Pension Authority, under the Finance Division, is striving to enhance the scheme’s appeal, and such workshops are instrumental in generating new ideas.
