Dhaka: A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee is scheduled for tomorrow to establish the date for Ashura following an assessment of moon visibility reports for the month of Muharram, 1447 Hijri. The session will commence at 7 pm in the Islamic Foundation Conference Room, located at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, as announced in a press release by the Islamic Foundation (IF) today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting will be presided over by the Religious Affairs Adviser, Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain. The committee encourages individuals who observe the moon of the holy Muharram month anywhere in the country’s sky to report their sightings. Alternatively, information can be relayed to the respective district administrators or upazilanirbahi officers.
