Thakurgaon: National Jute Day was celebrated in the district today with enthusiasm. The local administration, in collaboration with the local Jute Department, organized a discussion meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room to mark the occasion.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Soleman Ali. Several notable figures attended and spoke at the event, including Asim Kumar Malakar, District Jute Development Officer; Alamgir Kabir, Additional Deputy Director (Grains) of the local Department of Agricultural Extension; Hafizur Rahman, Deputy Manager of the local BSCIC; Maulana Abdul Hakim, former Ameer of the District Jamaat; and Habibul Islam Bablu, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The speakers emphasized the importance of jute as a cash crop and its significant contribution to the national economy. They highlighted the need to increase the use of jute and jute products due to their environmentally friendly nature. They further urged for an increase in jute cultivation across the country, citing its importance for the greater national interest.
Jute farmers from the district, along with officials and employees from various government and private organizations, participated in the event, demonstrating a collective commitment to advancing the jute industry.
