Sadullapur: A three-day National Fruit Fair commenced on the premises of Sadullapur Upazila Parishad with a focus on increasing the production of local fruits to meet the nation's nutritional needs.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Upazila Agriculture Office, under the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), organized the fair to promote large-scale cultivation of indigenous fruits. This year's theme, "Eat More Local Fruits, Plant More Fruit Trees," aims to encourage the community to prioritize local fruit consumption and cultivation.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Anik Islam inaugurated the fair as the chief guest, with Upazila Agriculture Officer Matiul Alam presiding over the inaugural ceremony and delivering the welcome speech. During his address, UNO Mohammad Anik emphasized the importance of consuming more local fruits and cultivating fruit trees on a large scale to enhance nutrition and achieve self-sufficiency.
The fair features around 50 stalls that have attracted visitors from various backgrounds, all showing a keen interest in the diverse variety of fruits showcased. Attendees were observed actively engaging with stall owners, indicating a strong community interest in local fruit production and consumption.
