Khulna: The National Fisheries Week-2025 is set to commence tomorrow in Khulna with the release of fish fry at Shaheed Hadis Park pond, followed by a vibrant rally. Later in the day, a discussion and award distribution ceremony will be held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner. Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarkar is expected to attend the event as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Khulna District Administration and the Department of Fisheries have organized a comprehensive weeklong program from July 22 to 28 to mark the occasion. As part of the observance, a stakeholder meeting focusing on "Sustainable Development and Optimal Use of Fish Resources" is scheduled at the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA) conference room on July 23.
On July 24, a documentary showcasing advancements in the fisheries sector will be screened at the BFDC ghat at 10 am. This will be followed by water quality testing and advisory services for ponds and water bodies at the Arongghata Shrimp Cluster on July 25.
A youth discussion centered on "Sustainable Development in Fisheries" will take place at Khulna University's Liaquat Ali Auditorium on July 26. Adding to the event's uniqueness, a swimming competition for fishermen is slated for July 27 at the pond of Batiaghata Upazila Parishad.
The weeklong festivities will conclude on July 28 with a closing and evaluation ceremony at the conference room of the Gallamari Fish Seed Production Farm, bringing the series of events to a close.
