Narail: The week-long 'National Fisheries Week-2025' commenced today in Narail district, aiming to promote the sustainable development and expansion of fisheries resources. This year's theme focuses on enhancing the nation's wealth through the establishment of fish sanctuaries.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the celebrations began with a vibrant rally that started at the Deputy Commissioner's office, traversing the main streets before concluding at the Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office. Following the rally, a discussion was held in the conference room of the UNO office, with District Fisheries Officer H.M Badruzzaman presiding over the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Sharmin Akhter Jahan graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event also saw the participation of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Linkon Biswas, Narail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sanchita Biswas, Department of Agriculture Extension Deputy Director Md. Jashim Uddin, District Information Officer Md. Rostom Ali, Sadar Upazila Agricultural Officer Md. Rokunuzzaman, and Narail Press Club Vice-President Sultan Mahmood, among others.
In recognition of their contributions to the fisheries sector, three fishermen from different upazilas in the district were awarded following the discussion.
