Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has approved the action plan (roadmap) for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, which would be officially announced at any time. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin, along with the four Election Commissioners and the EC Secretary, held a meeting this afternoon at the Election Commission Building in the capital's Agargaon to discuss the matter.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Commission formally approved the action plan (roadmap) and the roadmap could now be formally announced at any time, said EC officials. Regarding the matter, Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam Sarker stated that everything in the action plan has been finalized, approved, and only the typing is ongoing now.
Meanwhile, the EC's hearings on the re-demarcation of parliamentary constituencies are scheduled to conclude this afternoon. Following the conclusion of the hearings, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed is expected to brief the media on the overall developments. Akhtar Ahmed mentioned that alongside the constituency boundary hearings, the topic of the roadmap will also be addressed.
Earlier, on Thursday last week, the four Election Commissioners and EC officials held a meeting to finalize the action plan for the 13th Parliamentary Election. Election Commissioner Brig Gen Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah (Retd) had indicated that the EC Secretary would brief the media with detailed information regarding the action plan.
On August 18, EC Senior Secretary stated that the election roadmap would be finalized that week, including inter-departmental coordination and other relevant matters. The draft of the action plan had been prepared and submitted to the Commission for approval.
