Dhaka: A meeting of the National Consensus Commission was held on Sunday at its office at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here. The session, presided over by Commission Vice Chairman Professor Ali Riaz, aimed to assess the progress of consensus-building efforts with various political parties, as detailed in a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting focused on reviewing the issues on which consensus had been established during the first and second phases of discussions with political parties. It was further resolved that the commission would engage with experts and subsequently with political parties and alliances regarding the proposals or recommendations where agreement was reached.
The commission intends to maintain ongoing discussions with political parties, alliances, and the government to explore methods for implementing these proposals or recommendations. Most political parties and alliances have already provided feedback on the initial draft of the ‘July National Charter 2025’ circulated by the commission. The commission has decided to urge those parties that have not yet responded to submit their opinions promptly.
Key figures such as Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Safar Raj Hossain, Dr. Md Ayub Mia, and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Manir Haidar were in attendance at the meeting.
