Dhaka: The National Citizen Party (NCP) has officially launched its youth wing, “Jatiya Jubo Shakti,” with a commitment to harness the country’s youthful demographic for progressive change, emphasizing the inclusion of young voices in policy and decision-making processes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the unveiling ceremony of the new youth wing took place this afternoon at Shaheed Abrar Fahad Avenue in Dhaka, previously known as Bangabandhu Avenue, in front of the banned Awami League’s central office. Advocate Tariqul Islam has been appointed as the convenor, and Dr. Jahedul Islam will serve as the member secretary for Jatiya Jubo Shakti. Engineer Forhad Sohel has been designated as the Chief Organiser of the wing.
The NCP Chief Coordinator, Nasiruddin Patwari, highlighted the wing’s mission to provide an alternative to traditional youth political wings by focusing on pressing issues such as unemployment and exclusion from policy-making. The newly announced 131-member committee includes representatives from all 64 districts, aiming to unite young people across the nation.
Additional appointments include Tuhin Mahbub as Senior Joint Convenor and Nahida Bushra and Dutee Aranya Chowdhury as Senior Joint Member Secretaries. Several Joint Convenors and Member Secretaries were also named, with Khaled Mahmud Mostofa taking on the role of Chief Youth Development Coordinator.
NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain emphasized the platform’s objective to introduce a new dimension to politics by supporting training, financial independence, and social value development. He also called for India to respect Bangladesh’s democracy by severing ties with the Awami League and instead building relations with the people of Bangladesh.
Nasiruddin Patwari spoke about the broader vision of strengthening Bangladesh within South Asia, noting that Jatiya Jubo Shakti is part of a continued movement to organize youth across all sectors. He emphasized that with over 40% of Bangladesh’s population being young, uniting this group is essential for changing the country’s destiny.
The launch event attracted supporters and activists from across the nation, who gathered early in the afternoon, participating with enthusiasm by chanting slogans and waving banners. The ceremony also featured addresses from NCP Senior Joint Convenor Ariful Islam Adeeb and Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud.
