The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has

decided to keep all the government primary schools closed for another seven

days due to the nation-wide heat wave alert announced by the Meteorological

Department yesterday.

As a result, all government primary schools, Shishu Kalyan Trust schools and

non-formal education bureau learning centers will remain closed from April 21

to April 27.

The ministry has extended the vacation in consideration of the health and

safety of students, teachers and guardians during the ongoing heat wave,

according to a notification released here today by the Ministry of Primary

and Mass Education.

Schools and colleges across the country were scheduled to open tomorrow after

the holy Ramadan, Independence Day and Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

Earlier on Friday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued a heat

wave warning for 72 hours, stating that the ongoing heat wave is expected to

continue in most parts of the country.

Due to the intensity of the heat and high humid
ity during this period,

discomfort might increase, the bulletin added.
