Borolekha: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today emphasized that the nation does not desire any form of election unless it is conducted in a fair manner, allowing people to exercise their voting rights properly. He stated that the elections should adhere to a set roadmap, with the Chief Advisor already announcing the timeframe for the national election. Dr Shafiqur expressed a preference for elections to be held before Ramadan and insisted that if postponed, they should not extend beyond April to ensure fairness and the public’s right to vote.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Shafiqur made these remarks while addressing an Eid reunion at Borolekha, organized by the Jamaat Borolekha upazila unit. The event was also addressed by Jamaat Islami assistant secretary general Ehasanul Mahbub Jobaeyr, Sylhet city ameer Fakhrul Islam, and district unit secretary Yeamir Ali.
