Naogaon:Naogaon University has received approval to commence academic activities in two new departments English under the Faculty of Arts, and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) under the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Hasanath Ali revealed that the University Grants Commission (UGC) granted this approval through a letter dated November 5, 2026. The approval stipulates that the university must adhere to the Naogaon University Act, 2023, and admit a maximum of 40 undergraduate students to each department annually.
The university is required to prepare curricula for both departments and acquire approval from relevant authorities. Furthermore, it must ensure the availability of adequate subject-related books and journals in the library and provide facilities such as emergency exits, medical assistance, and safe drinking water.
Prof Hasanath Ali stated that the university has already initiated steps to fulfill the UGC's conditions. In addition to these developments, the UGC has also allocated funds and granted permission to hire a microbus for teachers and officials, as well as a bus for students. The tender process for procuring these vehicles has been completed.
With the introduction of the two new departments, Naogaon University will now offer four departments in total. Academic activities are already underway in the existing Departments of Accounting and Law.
