Names of 16 Colleges Under National University Changed

Dhaka: The names of 16 colleges under the National University (NU) have been changed. It was confirmed in a recent notification signed by Kazi Nurul Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Private College Branch-6 of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary of the Ministry of Education. This order will be effective immediately with the approval of the appropriate authorities.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib College, Natore Sadar has been renamed Chandrakola Degree College, Natore Sadar while Sheikh Mujibur Rahman College, Kachua, Chandpur is now Rahimanagar Degree College. SM Mostafa Rashidi Shuja Girls College, Dighlia, Khulna has become Pather Bazar Girls College, and Mohiuddin Degree College, Meherpur Sadar is now Meherpur Municipal Degree College.

Banglabazar Fatema Khanam Degree College in Bhola Sadar is renamed as Banglabazar Degree College, while Tazumuddin Hosneara Chowdhury Women's College is now Tazumuddin Women's College. Haji Md. Nubul Islam Chowdhury Degree College in Lalmohan is renamed Lalmohan Degree College, and Nurnabi Chowdhury College is now Badarpur College. Abdullah Al Islam Jakob College in Char Fassion has been renamed Osmanganj United College.

Principal Nazrul Islam College has been renamed Chairman Bazar Ideal College, while Neelima Jakob Women's College is now Dular Hat Model College. Dakshin Aicha Principal Nazrul Islam College has become Dokkhin Aicha College, and Principal Nazrul Islam Teachers Training College is now Bhola Teachers Training College.

The name of Abdullah Al Islam Jakob College in Shakuchia, Monpura has been changed to Sakuchia College. Aklima Moazzem Hossain Degree College in Jhalakathi Sadar is now Basonda College, and Mahbubur Rahman College in Rangabali, Patuakhali has been renamed Boro Baishdia College.
