Lahore: Speedster Nahid Rana, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, and wicket-keeper batter Liton Das got picked by different franchises from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft today, held in Lahore.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nahid Rana, who is yet to make his T20 International debut, was picked up by Peshwar Zalmi from the gold category. Karachi Kings acquired the services of Liton Das, a day after he struck a record-breaking century in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Liton earlier played for the same franchise in 2021.
Liton was roped in during round 2 of the silver category. Later, in round 3 of the same category, Lahore Qalandars obtained the services of Rishad Hossain, who also got a chance to play in the Australian domestic T20 tournament Big Bash. However, Rishad couldn't make it to the Big Bash due to his stint with Fortune Barishal in BPL.
Nahid Rana caught global attention for his raw pace. During the Test series against Pakistan last year, he troubled the batters with his speed, helping Bangladesh sweep the two-match series. His performance made a lasting impression, so much so that Peshwar Zalmi had no reservations about raising the paddle for the services of the youngster. Nahid will join the likes of Babar Azam and Siam Ayub in the Peshwar Zalmi lineup.
Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, who were placed in the Platinum category where players can earn between $130,000 and $150,000 (BDT 12.5 million), didn't get any takers. The Diamond category saw players earning approximately $85,000 (BDT 9 million), while the gold category's salaries are $50,000 (BDT 6 Million). The largest group of Bangladeshi players were listed in the Silver category, where players can earn $25,000 (BDT 3 million).
