Nagorik Committee Stage Demonstration at Mirpur Demanding Awami League’s Trial.

Dhaka: Different units of Jatiya Nagorik Committee today staged demonstrations at Mirpur demanding trial of Awami League for carrying out mass killing during July movement and those involved in the killing of Lawyer Saiful Islam in Chattogram. The representatives of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee's Pallabi, Kafrul, Mirpur, and Rupnagar areas brought out a procession around 2pm today from the Pallabi City Club, which ended with a short rally at Swadhinata Chattar at Mirpur-10 after parading different city streets. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the martyr's family members and leaders of the Nagorik Committee demanded immediate arrest and trial of the Awami League leaders and activists involved in the killings of the July movement. While addressing the rally as the chief guest, Nagorik Committee Central Executive Committee Member Ariful Islam Adeeb said, 'The culprits involved in the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam in Chittagong must be tried.' He emphasized that Awami League members responsible for mas s killings during the July-August movement must be brought to justice. Martyr Md. Sifat's father, Kamal Hawlader, expressed his grief and determination, stating, 'Those who killed our children are roaming freely. We want justice for them. If necessary, we will sacrifice our lives again like our children to bring the killers of Awami League to justice.' The rally, conducted by Pallabi thana representative Imran Naim, was also addressed by Martyr Shahriar Hasan's father Abul Hasan, Martyr Sifat's father Kamal Howlader, Martyr Kamrun Nahar's brother, Martyr Saidul Islam's mother, Martyr Ahsan Habib's father, Nazmus Sayek, and Abu Yunus Masud, among others.
