Mymensingh undergoes changes as PM carries out massive development

With sincere and relentless efforts by the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Mymensingh has changed because of the implementation of massive development projects.

Huge development is visible in all sectors, including agriculture, education, health and infrastructure, in the district in the last 14 years under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visionary leadership.

Common people of Mymensingh are now enjoying the benefits of these developments.

City Awami League General Secretary Mohit ur Rahman Shanto said there was no such development during the tenure of any government in the past.

Because of the tremendous development, people of the district will vote again for 'boat' in the future, he said.

City Awami League President and Mymensingh City Mayor Ikramul Haque Titu said people of Mymensingh had a long-standing demand to upgrade Mymensingh Medical College Hospital from 500-bed hospital to 1000-bed one.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has increased the beds of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital from 500 to 1000 beds in 2013.

People of greater Mymensingh, including Sherpur, Jamalpur, Tangail, Netrakona and Kishoreganj, along with North Bengal, Sunamganj, Narsingdi and Gazipur are now enjoying the treatment and medical services from Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, he said.

Local people demanded establishment of an education board and dredging of the old Brahmaputra river, along with establishment of Mymensingh into a division and city corporation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fulfilled all demands.

Former General Secretary of Mymensingh District Awami League veteran freedom fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has fulfilled all the demands of the people of Mymensingh.

She will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of more development projects of Mymensingh Division at a public meeting today.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is coming to Mymensingh after five years. She will address a public meeting to be organized by Awami League at Circuit House ground in the afternoon.

Mymensingh has turned into a festival city marking the visit of the Prime Minister. The entire Mymensingh is covered with posters, banners and festoons and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's portraits.

People of various professions including party leaders, workers and supporters are eagerly waiting for their visionary leader.

The party leaders and workers and common people are excited about today's meeting as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is coming before the next elections.

Tight security measures have been taken by the local administration for ensuring security.

According to local people, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Mymensingh on November 2, 2018. After five years, she is coming again today.

Awami League and local administration have completed all arrangements and preparations for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of 103 different development projects. Of which, she will inaugurate 73 different development projects and lay foundation stones of 30 development projects in Mymensingh Division.

Among the development projects, Sheikh Hasina will open mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman based on the photo adjacent to the central Shaheed Minar of Mymensingh, a 50-bed Dr Mushfiqur Rahman Shubo Memorial Islamic Mission Hospital, Construction of an auditorium cum community center having 1000 seat at Trishal Upazila, Institute of Health Technology, Construction of embankment to protect Charalgi Union of Gafargaon from erosion of the Brahmaputra river, new Sadar Upazila Parishad Hospital, Gorbakura-Karaitli land port at Haluaghat, main building of District Lawyers Association- Shaheed Advocate Nazrul Islam Bhavan and Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Women's College.

Besides, the projects include construction of Deshrat-Sheikh Hasina Hall in Bangladesh Agricultural University, Sheikh Rehana Hall, Rosy Jamal Hall, 500-bed 5-storey student hostel in Government Anand Mohan College and laying foundation stone of electricity distribution system development project.
