Abu Dhabi:Mushfiqur Rahim was closing in on a half-century, helping Bangladesh reach 124-3 at tea on Day 3 of the one-off Test against Afghanistan at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. This performance extended their lead to 230 runs, building on their earlier 106-run first innings lead.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, after dismissing Afghanistan for 240, largely due to Hasan Mahmud's impressive performance, Bangladesh began their second innings cautiously. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who scored 31, and Shadman Islam, who was out cheaply, left Bangladesh at 53-3 after Mominul Haque's dismissal for 7.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim then stabilized the innings, adding 71 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership. At tea, Mushfiqur was on 48 and Shanto on 27. Yamin Ahmadzai and Mohammad Saleem were among the wicket-takers for Afghanistan, with figures of 2-41 and 1-27, respectively.

Earlier in the match, Hasan Mahmud's exceptional bowling, which included a hat-trick, helped dismiss Afghanistan, with Ebadot Hossain also contributing significantly. Hasan's 5-55 and Ebadot's 4-56 were instrumental in limiting Afghanistan to 240 runs after they resumed the day at 211-4.
