Dhaka: Veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim has made a notable switch from Rajshahi to Sylhet Division for the upcoming NCL T20 tournament, which is set to commence on October 14 at three venues across the country. Mushfiqur had earlier requested the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to place him in Sylhet instead of Rajshahi, and his inclusion was confirmed as Sylhet announced their squad for the tournament.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Zakir Hasan will captain the Sylhet team, which features several national players such as Ebadot Hossain and Syed Khaled Ahmed. Sylhet has also kept Nasum Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Jaker Anik on standby as they are currently participating in the Asia Cup. Upon their return, they will join the team for some matches. This approach of keeping current national players on standby is a common strategy among all divisions, allowing them to be easily integrated into the squads once the Asia Cup concludes.
In addition to Sylhet, Barishal Division also unveiled their squad today. While their roster lacks prominent names, they do include left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam. Sohag Gazi, once a key member of the national team, has also secured his place in Barishal’s lineup. Former national captain Mohammad Ashraful will serve as the coach for Barishal.
The Sylhet Division squad includes players like Zakir Hasan (captain), Mizanur Rahman Sayem, Amit Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and other notable players. Standby players for Sylhet include Toufiq Khan Tushar, Majharul Islam Majed, and several others.
Barishal Division’s squad features Iftekhar Hossain Iftee, Rafsan Al Mahmud, Fazle Mahmud Rabbi, along with others, while their standby list includes Saiful Islam Mohin and Islamul Ahsan Abir, among others.
