Mirpur:Mushfiqur Rahim suffered an injury to his finger during a practice session, a day before Bangladesh's first Test against the West Indies. The incident occurred when Rahim was struck by a bouncer from a net bowler at the Academy ground in Mirpur.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the experienced batter immediately sat down in pain after the blow. He received treatment from national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan, but did not return to bat following the injury. Rahim was later seen with tape on his right index finger, though the full extent of the injury remains unknown.
Rahim was batting alongside Tanzid Hasan and Towhid Hridoy in one of the three nets after completing the squad's warm-up and fielding drills. Following the incident, Litton Kumer Das, who has recovered from an injury that kept him out of the recent tri-nation series in the UAE, took over wicketkeeping duties in the nets behind pacer Shoriful Islam. Head coach Phil Simmons had previously confirmed Litton's readiness to play.
The first Test is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
