A case was filed against former Raozan

lawmaker Fazle Karim and 17 others, for their involvement in the murder of

Nurul Alam Nuru, a central leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (BNP) in 2017.

Victim’s wife Sumi Akhter, filed the case with Chawkbazar thana last night.

Wali Uddin Akbar, Officer-in-Charge, Chawkbazar Thana confirmed the matter.

Additionally, 30 to 40 unnamed individuals were also sued in the case.

The murder was happened on March 29, 2017, when Nuru, 40, was allegedly

picked up by a group of 10 individuals from his rented residence in city’s

Chandanpura area, the sources said.

Among them, five was in uniform police and five in plainclothes men.

Later, he was found dead on the banks of Karnaphuli River under Raozan

upazila the following day. His body bore signs of severe torture, with his

hands tied with rope and two gunshot wounds in his head.

Sumi Akhter claimed that her husband was tortured and murdered in a pre-

planned manner under the orders of Fazle Karim.
