Kushtia: A motorcyclist lost his life and another was critically injured after being struck by a train in the Purba Majampur area of Sadar upazila this morning. The victim, Shaha Jamal, 59, was a contractor from Char Shitaijhar village in Kurigram district, residing temporarily in front of the Police Lines in Kushtia for work.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred at approximately 9:30 am at Nasir Doctor's Lane. Eyewitnesses reported that the two individuals were traveling from Saddam Bazar to Udibari when the motorcycle was hit at a rail crossing. The Madhumoti Express train arrived unexpectedly, leading to the fatal collision.
Nasir Uddin, Sub-Inspector at Poradaha GRP Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating that the motorbike inadvertently crossed onto the rail line just as the train appeared, resulting in the crash. The injured person was immediately taken to Kushtia General Hospital and remains in critical condition.
