Panchagarh: A motorcyclist lost his life and another was injured when their motorbike was struck by a covered van in the Jhaljhali Dighi area under Boda upazila. The incident occurred this afternoon, leaving the local community in shock.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased has been identified as Dipu Chandra Barman, 18, son of Budharu Barman, from Tepukuria Gunjanpara village in Benghari Bongram union of the upazila. The collision happened on the Maidandighi-Tepukuria road when a covered van belonging to Square Pharmaceuticals collided with the motorcycle, resulting in injuries to both riders.
Azim Uddin, the officer-in-charge of Boda Police Station, reported that the injured individuals were immediately taken to Boda Upazila Health Complex. However, Dipu's condition worsened, and he was transferred to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In response to the accident, police officials have seized the covered van involved and arrested its driver, Abdus Salam, 42, said the officer-in-charge. The incident highlights ongoing concerns over road safety and the need for stricter regulations to prevent such tragedies.
