Manikganj: A motorcyclist lost his life and another sustained serious injuries in a collision involving a bus on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Manikganj on Friday afternoon.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident took place around 5pm in the Pukhuria Stone Bricks area. The victim has been identified as Jubayer Hossain, a resident of Daulatpur in Manikganj. Eyewitnesses and police reported that the motorcycle was traveling along the highway when it was hit from behind by a Dhaka-bound Selfie Paribahan bus. The collision forcefully ejected both riders onto the road, resulting in severe injuries. Despite local efforts to rescue and transport them to a nearby hospital, Hossain succumbed to his injuries en route.
Md. Harunar Rashid, Officer-in-Charge of Barangail Highway Police Station, stated that the driver fled the scene with the bus to the Manikganj bus stand area and managed to escape. Authorities have since impounded the bus, and Hossain's body has been taken to the Manikganj Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
