A motorcyclist was killed and his co-riders were critically injured as a truck hit them at Trimohoni Bazar under Sadar upazila here this morning.
The deceased was identified as Asadul Islam, son of Altaf Hossain Mondal, a resident of Holdia village under Saghata upazila in the district.
Locals said Asadul Islam, along with two others, was going to Gaibandha district town on a motorcycle this morning. When they reached Trimohoni Bazar, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle, leaving motorcyclist Asadul dead on the spot and two others seriously injured.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar thana Masud Rana confirmed the death and said it was not possible to seize the truck, as it managed to flee the scene soon after the accident.
