Dhaka: Women and Children Affairs Minister Dr. Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain has emphasized the pivotal role of mothers as a child's first shelter, teacher, and lifelong guide. He remarked that a mother's selfless love, sacrifice, and silent service are invaluable, and gratitude alone is insufficient to repay such dedication. This statement was made during an event celebrating Mother's Day at the RAOWA Convention Centre in Mohakhali.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the 'Gorbini Maa-2026' (Proud Mother 2026) event was organized by Universal Medical College Hospital to honor mothers of successful individuals across various sectors. Zahid Hossain highlighted the importance of recognizing the contributions of mothers whose tireless sacrifices and encouragement have played a crucial role in their children's achievements.
The event also featured speeches from Narsingdi-5 (Raipura) lawmaker Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bokul, Universal Medical College Hospital chairperson Priti Chakraborty, and Managing Director Dr. Ashish Kumar Chakraborty. During the event, mothers of 11 distinguished citizens were honored with commemorative crests, medals, free health check-up packages, and gift items.
