Netrokona: Three passengers, including a mother and her daughter, of a battery-powered auto-rickshaw were killed, and seven others were injured in a road accident in the Challisha area in Sadar upazila today. The tragic event unfolded at the Challisha Bypass Intersection on the Netrokona-Mymensingh highway around 11:30 am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased have been identified as Nurjahan, 50, wife of Ainul Haque from Amli Keshabpur village in Rouha union, her daughter Smriti Akhter, 18, and a teenager named Iti, 15. The accident occurred when a bus collided with the auto-rickshaw, resulting in the immediate death of its three passengers and injuring seven others.
Among the injured were Nurjahan's husband, Ainul Haque, the auto-rickshaw driver, Rehan Mia, and five other passengers. Locals promptly rescued the injured and initially took them to Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, all were subsequently transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
District Police Spokesperson and Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Hafizul Islam confirmed the incident.
