Dhaka: The National Moon Sighting Committee is set to convene this evening in the conference room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram in the capital. The meeting’s purpose is to determine the date for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting will commence at 6:30 pm following Maghrib prayers, with Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain presiding. The key agenda item is the sighting of the Zilhajj moon, 1446 Hijri, which will help establish the date for Eid-ul-Azha.
The Islamic Foundation has encouraged the public to report any sightings of the Zilhajj moon. Reports can be made by calling 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916, or 02-41050917. Additionally, faxes can be sent to 02-223383397 or 02-9555951.
In an effort to gather accurate information, the Foundation has also asked that any sightings be communicated to the respective Deputy Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).
