Dhaka: Speakers at an event organized in the capital’s Biswo Sahitya Kendra highlighted that poet Monija Rahman captures the essence of nature and life in her poetry, portraying deep stories of individuals from all walks of life with ease.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event, titled Jaladhi-Sandhya, was organized by Jaladhi, where writers and poets gathered to discuss ‘Ek Pasla Brishti Kenar Age,’ a collection of poems by Monija Rahman. The poet herself attended as the chief guest, with Jaladhi publisher and Editor Nahid Ashraf, poet Nasir Ahmed, and writers Dilara Mesbah and Sirajul Islam also present.
The speakers noted that Monija Rahman explores societal truths through various literary forms, including stories, poems, and novels. Her ability to delve into the dimensions of society is seen as a hallmark of her work.
Monija Rahman was born in Tirojpur, Barisal, and spent her formative years in Gandaria, Old Dhaka. Holding a Master’s degree in Economics from Dhaka University, she pursued a career in sports journalism, becoming the country’s first professional female sports journalist and sports editor.
