Dhaka: Mohammedan Sporting Club Women's cricket team ascended to the top of the Women's Dhaka Premier League (WDPL) points table after a decisive nine-wicket victory over Kalabagan Krira Chakra at Bashundhara Sports Complex in Dhaka today. This victory marked their fourth win in five matches, allowing them to surpass Sheltech Cricket Academy on net run rate, even though Sheltech has maintained an unbeaten record in their four matches played so far.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shanjida Akhter Meghla played a pivotal role in securing the win by taking 5-14 in nine overs. Her disciplined bowling effort helped Mohammedan bundle out Kalabagan Women's team for a mere 85 runs in 47 overs. Among the Kalabagan batters, only two managed to reach double figures, with Tomalika Sumona remaining unbeaten on 20 and captain Disha Biswas scoring 13. Extras contributed the highest score of 24 runs.
Mohammedan chased down the target with ease, reaching 86-1 in just 13.3 overs. Sharmin Supta led the chase with an unbeaten 40 off 34 balls, including seven boundaries. She was well supported by Murshida Khatun, who remained not out on 22, sealing a comfortable victory for their team.
