Dhaka: Defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited split points with Brothers Union Club when their match ended in a tame goalless draw in the lone last round of the first phase of the Bangladesh Football League (BFL) held at Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, both teams had several scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalize due to a lack of effective finishing. The result saw the black and white Motijheel outfit, Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, temporarily finish the first leg in sixth position on the league table with ten points. Meanwhile, the all-orange Gopibagh outfit, Brothers Union Club, closely trails with nine points from the same number of matches.
In the remaining ninth or last round matches scheduled for tomorrow, table topper Bashundhara Kings will face Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club at Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj. Bangladesh Police Football Club will meet old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur. Abahani Limited, Dhaka, will play against Arambagh Krira Sangha at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla, and Fortis Football Club will face PWD Sports Club at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital.
