Tangail: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has emphasized the importance of improving government fish farms and expanding the use of modern technology to increase fish production while ensuring quality. He made these remarks during an inspection of the government fish seed production farm in Atpukurpar, located in Tangail Sadar upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku stated that the production capacity of government fish farms must be enhanced to further develop the country's fisheries sector. He noted that fish seed production can be increased through improved management, the use of modern technology, and proper maintenance of existing infrastructure. He urged the officials concerned to work in coordination to achieve these goals.
Tuku also highlighted that, in addition to increasing fish production, it is crucial to maintain environmental balance and conserve electricity. He advocated for the expansion of environment-friendly technologies, such as solar power, in government farms to make production activities more sustainable. During his visit, the state minister inaugurated a 20-kilowatt solar power system at the farm and later participated in a tree-planting activity on the farm premises.
The event was attended by several key officials, including Md Ahsan Hasib Khan, Director of the Department of Fisheries, Dhaka Division; Md Mashiur Rahman, Project Director of the Infrastructure Development Project for Increasing Fish Production in Existing Government Fish Farms; District Fisheries Officer Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir; Tangail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shaheen Mia; Senior Joint Secretary Azim Uddin Biplob; and other officials from the Department of Fisheries at various levels.
