Dhaka: Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Abu Zafar Md Zahid Hossain today announced that modern, quality daycare centres will be established gradually in cities, suburbs, and densely populated areas across the country. He emphasized the initiative's importance in enabling working women to participate in workplaces without anxiety and ensuring children's safe development.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made this announcement while serving as the chief guest at the inauguration of a daycare centre and breastfeeding corner at the Land Administration Training Centre in the capital. The Ministry of Land organized the programme, where certificates were awarded to trainees who completed the 48th and 49th Basic Land Management Courses.
Land Minister Md Mizanur Rahman Minu, State Minister for Land Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin, and State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin attended the event as special guests. Land Ministry Senior Secretary A S M Saleh Ahmed presided over the programme.
Prof Abu Zafar Md Zahid Hossain also urged industry owners to support the daycare initiatives, either privately or through public-private partnerships (PPP). He assured that the government would provide necessary policy and technical support to those who help strengthen this social initiative for children's protection and development in early childhood.
Md Mizanur Rahman Minu detailed that establishing daycare centres for working mothers was part of the election pledge, and the modern centre's establishment reflects the Ministry of Land's 180-day priority programme. He encouraged the course trainees to execute their duties with honesty and dedication.
The programme concluded with guests inspecting the newly inaugurated daycare centre and breastfeeding corner, attended by senior ministry officials, training centre officials, and trainees.
