Dhaka: A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today conducted a drive at Krishi Market in the city's Mohammadpur area and seized 1,555 kilograms of polythene, imposing fines totaling Taka 55,000 on six organizations for selling, supplying, and marketing banned polythene.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the drive took place from 10 am to 1:30 pm and was overseen by RAB additional police super Shamsul Islam. During the operation, Aminul One Time Ghar was fined Taka 25,000, Bhai Bhai Enterprise Taka 5,000, M/S Mamun Business Center Taka 5,000, Delwar One Time Store Taka 5,000, Maya Shopping Store Taka 10,000, and M/S Shariatpur Packaging Store Taka 5,000 for their involvement in the banned activities.
Verbal instructions were also issued to the organizations, advising them to cease the sale, supply, and marketing of polythene in the future for the public interest. RAB has been conducting continuous operations against the production, sale, and use of polythene to ensure environmental protection, and they plan to continue such operations in the future as well.
