Tangail: In a concerted effort to safeguard the breeding season of Hilsa fish, a mobile court was organized in Sadar Upazila, Tangail. This action aligns with the government's directive to prohibit the netting, transportation, storage, marketing, buying, selling, and exchanging of Hilsa fish during this crucial period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sharmin Sultana at the Jamuna River. The initiative was a collaborative effort between the district administration and the District Fisheries Department. The court successfully seized and destroyed approximately 20,000 meters of illegal current nets, which were valued at around Taka 7.50 lakh.
Magistrate Sharmin Sultana emphasized that similar operations will persist until October 25 to ensure the protection of mother Hilsa. District Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Naushad Alam, along with officials from the District Fisheries Department, participated in the drive. The operation was also supported by members of law enforcement agencies to ensure its success.
