Riyadh:Eight flights between Dhaka and Saudi Arabia have been disrupted, impacting 2,951 passengers, following missile and drone attacks that temporarily halted operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the affected flights included two from Biman Bangladesh Airlines, one from US-Bangla Airlines, three from Saudia Airlines, and two from Riyadh Airways. Civil aviation officials noted that the disruptions affected passengers traveling between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines announced the suspension of its Dhaka-Riyadh-Dhaka flights, BG339 and BG340, until further notice. Passengers were advised not to go to the airport and instead contact the airline’s call center or nearest sales office for assistance.
International media reports indicated that Yemen's Houthis have warned airlines, travelers, and airport workers to avoid Saudi airports. This warning came a day after an attack on the Riyadh airport resulted in 12 deaths and over 300 injuries. Saudi Arabia condemned the attack as a 'full-fledged war crime' and vowed to retaliate 'firmly.' The Houthis have not claimed responsibility for this attack.
