Dhaka: Ganosamhati Andolon today said attempts to mislead the public by using artificial intelligence (AI) ahead of the national election are increasingly taking on a frightening scale.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in a joint statement, Abul Hasan Rubel, convener of the central election management committee of Ganosamhati Andolon, and member secretary Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu, emphasized that such malicious activities pose a major threat to a free and fair electoral environment.
The leaders have urged the Election Commission to take immediate and effective measures to counteract this growing problem. The statement highlighted the use of AI to spread fake news, rumors, and disinformation related to the election.
They noted that highly realistic videos and images created with generative AI are being widely circulated on Facebook and other social media platforms. Furthermore, numerous bots and fake IDs are reportedly being used to disseminate similar narratives in favor of specific parties.
