Dhaka: Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury on Sunday emphasized that misdeeds will not go unpunished even if they are committed outside the country, reinforcing the notion that both 'evil and good' forces are present both domestically and internationally. He made these comments while speaking to reporters after a law-and-order committee meeting and an exchange of views with heads of government offices at the deputy commissioner's conference room.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the minister addressed the recent incident involving the harassment of actress Azmeri Haque Badhan in Italy, stating that the government has taken decisive action. "The state minister for foreign affairs made a landmark statement in Parliament on the issue. I have also spoken to Badhan personally. Justice will be ensured for what happened to her," he assured.
Nitai Roy further reiterated that the government has never shied away from taking responsibility for incidents of harassment involving artists, whether they occur inside or outside the country.
During the earlier law-and-order committee meeting and discussion with government office heads, the minister also highlighted various measures being taken to curb crimes. He warned against irregularities in the education, health, and agriculture sectors, underscoring the government's commitment to maintaining order and integrity.
The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including Reserved-seat MP Newaz Halima Arly, Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner Lutfun Naher, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan, Lt Col Nazmul Hasan, commanding officer of Chuadanga-6 Border Guard Bangladesh, and Zila Parishad Administrator Md Sorifuzzaman, as well as officials from various government offices and BNP leaders.
