Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha. In a condolence message, he prayed for the eternal peace of Hadi’s soul and extended his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mirza Fakhrul strongly condemned and protested the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible and exemplary punishment. He highlighted that, following the fall of the Awami autocratic regime through a student-mass movement, miscreants are engaging in activities to create instability and anarchy in the country. He described the killing of Hadi as a manifestation of this conspiracy.
Mirza Fakhrul stated that the attack on Hadi was carried out by enemies of democracy, voting rights, and elections, with the intent to kill. Hadi was critically injured in the attack and passed away while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital. Fakhrul emphasized the pain of Hadi’s death and condemned the repeated horrifying incidents aimed at plunging the country into crisis.
Sharif Osman Hadi, a fearless fighter from the July Uprising, succumbed to his injuries after battling for his life for six days. He was aspiring to be an independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency. On December 12, Hadi was shot while traveling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Police Station.
